CVE-2002-0656 is a remotely exploitable buffer overflow in OpenSSL 0.9.6d and earlier and pre-release OpenSSL 0.9.7-beta2 and earlier. Insufficient bounds checking during SSL handshake processing permits an oversized SSLv2 CLIENT-MASTER-KEY value or an oversized SSLv3 session ID to overflow a buffer. The SSLv2 condition is reachable by a malicious client against a vulnerable server; the SSLv3 condition is reachable by a malicious server during a vulnerable client's handshake.
