CVE-2002-0793 is a local link-following vulnerability in QNX RTOS 4.25 (QNX4). Multiple utilities improperly follow hard links and possibly symbolic links when operating on attacker-controlled file arguments, including the monitor utility with the -f option, dumper with the -d option, crttrap with the -c option, and a Watcom sample utility. Because these programs resolve and write to linked files without safely validating the final target, a local user can cause the privileged or trusted file operation to be redirected to an unintended file and overwrite arbitrary files on the system.
