BadBlue Enterprise Edition versions 1.7 through 1.74 attempt to restrict administrator actions to requests originating from the local host IP address. However, the application does not implement any additional authentication mechanisms. This allows a remote attacker to craft a web page that issues an HTTP POST request to the dir.hts page on the localhost, effectively bypassing the intended restriction and enabling the attacker to add an entire hard drive to the list of shared resources, leading to arbitrary code execution.
