CVE-2003-0078 is an observable timing side channel in OpenSSL's SSLv3 record-processing function, ssl3_get_record in s3_pkt.c. In affected releases, invalid block-cipher padding caused processing to skip MAC computation. The resulting timing difference could distinguish padding failures from MAC-verification failures and aid cryptographic attacks against CBC-protected SSL/TLS records. Affected versions are OpenSSL 0.9.7 before 0.9.7a and OpenSSL 0.9.6 before 0.9.6i.

OpenSSL SSL/TLS CBC padding timing oracle vulnerability.
A timing side-channel flaw in OpenSSL's ssl3_get_record processing that can aid cryptographic attacks, also known as the Vaudenay timing attack.
A timing information leak in an SSL implementation where MAC computation is skipped on incorrect padding, enabling cryptographic attacks that distinguish padding from MAC errors and may recover plaintext.
An SSL timing information leak that distinguishes invalid padding from MAC-verification failures and can facilitate plaintext-recovery cryptographic attacks.
