A NULL pointer dereference in the RPC DCOM interface of Windows 2000 SP3 and SP4 occurs when certain messages sent to the __RemoteGetClassObject interface cause a NULL pointer to be passed to PerformScmStage. Remote attackers can crash the affected system. A local attacker can leverage the denial-of-service condition to hijack the epmapper pipe and gain privileges.
