CVE-2003-0818 is caused by multiple integer overflows in Microsoft’s ASN.1 library (MSASN1.DLL), used by components including LSASS.EXE and CRYPT32.DLL on Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, and Windows XP. Specially crafted ASN.1 BER-encoded data can trigger (1) very large length fields leading to heap memory overwrite, or (2) malformed/modified bit strings, resulting in memory corruption that can be leveraged for arbitrary code execution remotely.

This repository contains a single Metasploit module, 'ms04_007_killbill.rb', which exploits a heap overflow vulnerability in the Microsoft ASN.1 library (CVE-2003-0818, MS04-007). The exploit targets Windows 2000 SP2-SP4 and Windows XP SP0-SP1 systems that have not applied the MS04-007 patch. The module can attack via SMB (ports 445/139) or HTTP (port 80), depending on configuration. The exploit is highly destructive: a failed attempt will crash the LSASS service and force a system reboot, denying authentication until the system restarts. If successful, it allows arbitrary code execution as SYSTEM, typically used to launch a reverse shell or Meterpreter session. The module is written in Ruby and is part of the Metasploit Framework. The code includes custom shellcode for heap manipulation and payload delivery, and provides options for protocol selection. The exploit is considered operational but unreliable and is not recommended for automated exploitation due to its destructive nature.
