CVE-2004-0989 is a set of buffer overflows in libxml2 2.6.12 and 2.6.13, with other versions potentially affected. The flaws occur in the library’s FTP and HTTP networking URL-processing paths, including xmlNanoFTPScanURL, xmlNanoFTPScanProxy, xmlNanoFTPConnect, and xmlNanoHTTPConnectHost. Overlong FTP URLs, proxy URLs containing FTP data, or manipulated DNS length values can cause unsafe handling of attacker-controlled data and overflow memory buffers.
