CVE-2005-2710 is a format string vulnerability in Real HelixPlayer and RealPlayer 10, including media players based on the Helix Player codebase. The flaw is triggered during handling of RealPix (.rp) or RealText (.rt) media files via the image handle or timeformat attribute. A specially crafted media file can cause attacker-controlled format string data to be processed unsafely, leading to memory corruption and potential arbitrary code execution in the context of the media player process. The issue can be reached when a user opens a malicious media file or visits a website that causes the player to launch and process attacker-supplied content.
