CVE-2006-3747 is an off-by-one buffer overflow vulnerability in the escape_absolute_uri() function of the mod_rewrite module in Apache HTTP Server (versions 1.3.29, 2.0.46 and higher, and 2.2.x). The flaw is triggered when mod_rewrite processes rewritten URIs prefixed with the LDAP protocol scheme, allowing remote attackers to cause a denial of service or potentially execute arbitrary code. Exploitation requires a rewrite rule where the attacker can control the initial part of the rewritten URL, but does not require an LDAP-specific rule. Rules with the 'noescape' (NE) flag are not affected.

This repository contains a single Metasploit module targeting a buffer overflow vulnerability (CVE-2006-3747) in the Apache HTTP Server's mod_rewrite module when handling LDAP protocol schemes. The exploit is designed for Windows platforms and requires the target server to have a specific mod_rewrite configuration ('RewriteEngine on' and a vulnerable 'RewriteRule'). The module sends a crafted HTTP request with a malicious LDAP URI to trigger the overflow and execute arbitrary code, using a customizable Metasploit payload. The code is written in Ruby and leverages the Metasploit framework's HttpClient and payload handling capabilities. The only fingerprintable endpoint is the crafted LDAP URI used in the exploit request. The module is operational and can provide remote code execution on vulnerable systems.
