CVE-2006-5567 is a set of multiple heap-based buffer overflow vulnerabilities in AOL Nullsoft WinAmp versions prior to 5.31. The issue can be triggered by a crafted ultravox-max-msg header processed by the Ultravox protocol handler, or by malformed Lyrics3 tags. The vulnerable conditions arise from improper bounds handling during parsing of attacker-controlled input, leading to heap memory corruption. Because the affected inputs can be delivered through remote content or malicious media metadata, successful exploitation can result in arbitrary code execution in the context of the WinAmp process.
