Multiple buffer overflow vulnerabilities exist in Computer Associates BrightStor ARCserve Backup R11.5 Server (prior to SP2) within the Tape Engine (tapeeng.exe). Specifically, the vulnerabilities are triggered by crafted RPC requests using opnum 38 (handled by TAPEUTIL.dll 11.5.3884.0) and opnum 37 (handled by TAPEENG.dll 11.5.3884.0), which do not properly validate input, leading to buffer overflows.
