CVE-2007-0018 is a stack-based buffer overflow in the NCTAudioFile2.AudioFile ActiveX control implemented in NCTAudioFile2.dll. The flaw is triggered by passing an overly long argument to the SetFormatLikeSample() method. Because the vulnerable control is marked safe for scripting and was redistributed across numerous third-party multimedia applications, a remote attacker could invoke the method from malicious web content in Internet Explorer and corrupt stack memory, leading to arbitrary code execution in the context of the logged-in user. The issue affected multiple products embedding the same control, including NCTsoft products and many repackaged audio/video utilities, as well as Oracle Siebel SimBuilder and CRM 7.x.

This repository contains a single Metasploit exploit module targeting a stack buffer overflow in the NCTAudioFile2 v2.x ActiveX control (CVE-2007-0018). The exploit is delivered via a malicious HTML page served by the Metasploit framework's HTTP server. When a victim visits the page using Internet Explorer 6 on Windows XP SP2/SP3, the exploit triggers the SetFormatLikeSample() method of the vulnerable ActiveX control (CLSID: 77829F14-D911-40FF-A2F0-D11DB8D6D0BC), causing a buffer overflow and allowing arbitrary code execution. The module supports custom Metasploit payloads, enabling the attacker to gain control of the victim's system. The exploit specifically targets BearShare 6.x and Magic Audio Editor Pro 10.x, both of which use the vulnerable NCTAudioFile2.dll. The code is written in Ruby and is structured as a standard Metasploit module, with the main logic in the on_request_uri method, which serves the exploit page and handles payload delivery.
