CVE-2007-0450 is a directory-traversal vulnerability in Apache Tomcat deployments fronted by Apache HTTP Server using mod_proxy, mod_rewrite, or mod_jk. Apache HTTP Server and Tomcat interpret path separators inconsistently: Tomcat accepts slash, backslash, and URL-encoded backslash forms as path delimiters, while the proxy layer does not consistently normalize or restrict them. Crafted dot-dot path sequences can therefore traverse outside the context exposed by the proxy and reach unintended resources. The issue affects Tomcat 5.x before 5.5.22 and Tomcat 6.x before 6.0.10; affected Tomcat 5.0 releases include versions through 5.0.30 and affected 5.5 releases include versions through 5.5.21.
