CVE-2007-0882 is an argument injection vulnerability in the Solaris telnet daemon, in.telnetd, affecting Solaris 10 and 11. The daemon incorrectly interprets certain client-supplied "-f" sequences as legitimate arguments for the downstream login program. As a result, attacker-controlled input can alter how the login program is invoked and cause authentication to be skipped for certain accounts. This is a classic CWE-88 condition in which externally influenced input is not properly neutralized before being passed as command-line arguments to another component. Successful exploitation allows a remote unauthenticated attacker to obtain a login session as an affected account, with public descriptions noting the bin account as an example.

This repository contains a single Metasploit module (modules/exploits/solaris/telnet/fuser.rb) that exploits an argument injection vulnerability (CVE-2007-0882) in the telnet daemon (in.telnetd) of Sun Solaris 10 and 11. The exploit works by sending a series of crafted telnet protocol messages to the target's TCP port 23, manipulating the USER environment variable to bypass authentication. Once access is gained, it executes an arbitrary command payload as the specified user (default 'bin'). The module is written in Ruby and leverages Metasploit's Remote::Tcp mixin. The exploit is operational and provides remote code execution on vulnerable systems. The only fingerprintable endpoint is the TCP port 23 (telnet) service on the target Solaris host.
