CVE-2007-1559 describes multiple stack-based buffer overflows in SonicDVDDashVRNav.dll, a component of Roxio CinePlayer 3.2. The vulnerability can be triggered by sending long property values or long arguments to unspecified methods in SonicMediaPlayer.dll, which is accessible via ActiveX. This allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

This repository contains a single Metasploit module (roxio_cineplayer.rb) that exploits a stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability (CVE-2007-1559) in the SonicPlayer ActiveX control (SonicMediaPlayer.dll 3.0.0.1) installed by Roxio CinePlayer 3.2. The exploit is delivered via a malicious HTML page served by the Metasploit framework's HTTP server. When a victim visits the page using Internet Explorer (IE 6 or 7) on a vulnerable Windows XP or Vista system, the exploit triggers a buffer overflow by passing an overly long value to the 'DiskType' property of the ActiveX control, allowing arbitrary code execution. The module is operational and allows the attacker to deliver any Metasploit payload (such as a reverse shell) to the victim. The main fingerprintable endpoint is the CLSID of the vulnerable ActiveX control (clsid:9F1363DA-0220-462E-B923-9E3C9038896F) and the targeted DLL (SonicMediaPlayer.dll). The repository is structured as a single Ruby file compatible with the Metasploit framework, and all exploit logic is contained within this file.
