CVE-2007-2139 is a set of multiple stack-based buffer overflow vulnerabilities in the SUN RPC service of CA (Computer Associates) BrightStor ARCserve Media Server. The issue affects deployments as used in BrightStor ARCserve Backup 9.01 through 11.5 SP2, BrightStor Enterprise Backup 10.5, Server Protection Suite 2, and Business Protection Suite 2. Remote attackers can trigger the overflows by sending malformed RPC strings to the service, leading to memory corruption and potential arbitrary code execution. This is distinct from CVE-2006-5171, CVE-2006-5172, and CVE-2007-1785.

This repository contains a single Metasploit module (Ruby file) that exploits a stack buffer overflow vulnerability in the CA BrightStor ARCserve Media Service (MediaSrv) via a crafted SunRPC request. The exploit targets Windows 2000 and Windows 2003 systems running vulnerable versions (9.0 to 11.5 SP2) of BrightStor ARCserve. The module allows the attacker to execute arbitrary code with SYSTEM privileges by sending a specially crafted payload to the SunRPC service (program number 0x6097e) over TCP. The exploit supports multiple targets, including those with and without NX (No-eXecute) support, and includes logic to bypass NX protections on supported systems. The payload is customizable and leverages the Metasploit framework's payload system. The file is well-structured, with detailed comments explaining the exploitation steps, especially for NX-enabled targets. No hardcoded IPs, URLs, or file paths are present; the main fingerprintable endpoint is the SunRPC service itself.
