CVE-2007-3832 is a buffer overflow vulnerability in the AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) protocol handler implemented in AIM.DLL in Cerulean Studios Trillian. The flaw is triggered when Trillian processes a malformed aim: URI, including cases demonstrated with an overly long URI beginning with the substring aim:///#1111111/. In the documented attack scenario, a user is induced to open a malicious aim: URI in a web browser; when the browser invokes the registered AIM protocol handler and passes the crafted URI to Trillian, the overflow occurs. Successful exploitation can result in arbitrary code execution in the context of the user running Trillian.
