CVE-2007-5601 is a stack-based buffer overflow in the Database Component of MPAMedia.dll in RealNetworks RealPlayer 10.5, RealPlayer 11 beta, and earlier affected versions including RealPlayer 10, RealOne Player, and RealOne Player 2. The flaw is triggered by processing a maliciously crafted playlist name. Public reporting indicates exploitation can be demonstrated through the import method exposed by the IERPCtl ActiveX control in ierpplug.dll. By supplying an overlong or otherwise malformed playlist name to the vulnerable code path, a remote attacker can corrupt stack memory and potentially redirect execution flow, resulting in arbitrary code execution in the context of the logged-in user.

This repository contains a single Metasploit module targeting a stack buffer overflow vulnerability in the RealPlayer ierpplug.dll ActiveX control (CVE-2007-5601). The exploit is delivered via a malicious HTTP server that serves a crafted HTML page with embedded JavaScript. When a victim using Internet Explorer visits the page, the script instantiates the vulnerable ActiveX control (identified by CLSID FDC7A535-4070-4B92-A0EA-D9994BCC0DC5) and calls its Import() method with an overly long string, triggering the buffer overflow. The exploit supports two specific vulnerable versions of RealPlayer on Windows. The payload is customizable via the Metasploit framework and typically results in arbitrary code execution on the victim's machine. The repository is structured as a single Ruby file compatible with Metasploit, and all exploit logic is contained within this file.
