CVE-2008-0871 describes multiple stack-based buffer overflow vulnerabilities in Now SMS/MMS Gateway 2007.06.27 and earlier. The vulnerabilities can be triggered by sending a long password in the Authorization header to the HTTP service or by sending a large packet to the SMPP service. These overflows allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on the affected system.

This repository contains a single Metasploit module (modules/exploits/windows/http/nowsms.rb) that exploits a stack buffer overflow vulnerability (CVE-2008-0871) in Now SMS/MMS Gateway v2007.06.27 for Windows. The exploit works by sending a specially crafted HTTP GET request to the root URI (/) of the target service, running on TCP port 8800 (default). The Authorization header is abused to deliver a base64-encoded payload that overflows a stack buffer, overwrites the return address, and executes arbitrary code. The module allows the attacker to specify a Metasploit payload (up to 0x94 bytes), which will be executed with the privileges of the Now SMS/MMS Gateway process. The exploit is operational and requires the target service to be accessible over the network. The code is written in Ruby and is structured as a standard Metasploit exploit module.
