CVE-2008-1105 is a heap-based buffer overflow in Samba's SMB packet handling, specifically the receive_smb_raw function in util/sock.c. Samba versions 3.0.0 through 3.0.29 are affected. An attacker can trigger the flaw with a crafted SMB response, either by supplying malicious packets to an SMB server or by operating a malicious SMB server to which a vulnerable client connects. Apple shipped affected SMB File Server code in Mac OS X and Mac OS X Server 10.4.11 and 10.5 through 10.5.3.
