CVE-2008-2463 is a race condition in the Microsoft Office Snapshot Viewer ActiveX control, snapview.ocx version 10.0.5529.0, distributed with the standalone Snapshot Viewer and Microsoft Office Access 2000 through 2003. A remote attacker can use a crafted HTML document or email message to cause the control to download arbitrary files to attacker-selected locations on a client system. The issue likely involves the SnapshotPath and CompressedPath properties together with the PrintSnapshot method. Writing a malicious file to a Startup folder can result in code execution when the affected user logs in.

This repository contains a single Metasploit module targeting CVE-2008-2463, a vulnerability in the Microsoft Office Snapshot Viewer ActiveX Control. The exploit is delivered via a malicious HTTP server that serves a crafted HTML/JavaScript page. When a victim visits the page using Internet Explorer with the vulnerable ActiveX control installed, the exploit uses the control to download and write an arbitrary executable (the attacker's payload) to a specified location on the victim's file system, typically the Startup folder. The payload is generated by Metasploit and can be customized. The exploit leverages browser-based attack vectors and requires user interaction (visiting the malicious page). The main file is a Ruby script structured as a Metasploit module, making use of Metasploit's HTTP server and payload generation capabilities. Key fingerprintable endpoints include the HTTP payload delivery URL, the file path for payload placement, and the specific ActiveX control CLSID.
