An unspecified vulnerability in the NWFS.SYS driver of Novell Client for Windows 4.91 SP4 may allow attackers to overwrite arbitrary memory locations, likely via crafted IOCTL requests. The exact details of the vulnerable function and exploitation method are not disclosed.

This repository contains a single Metasploit module that exploits a local privilege escalation vulnerability (CVE-2008-3158) in the Novell Client 4.91 SP4 (nwfs.sys 4.91.4.7) on Windows XP SP3. The exploit abuses an IOCTL handler in the nwfs.sys driver that allows an attacker to write a fixed value to an arbitrary kernel address. By overwriting an entry in the HalDispatchTable, the attacker can redirect execution to custom shellcode when NtQueryIntervalProfile is called. The module uses Meterpreter's Railgun to interact with Windows APIs and device drivers, and injects a customizable payload (typically a Meterpreter shell) to gain SYSTEM privileges. The main fingerprintable endpoints are the device file \\.\Nwfs and the HalDispatchTable in kernel memory. The exploit is operational and requires local access to the target system with the vulnerable driver installed.
