CVE-2008-4113 is an information disclosure vulnerability in the Linux kernel's Stream Control Transmission Protocol implementation, specifically in the sctp_getsockopt_hmac_ident function in net/sctp/socket.c before Linux kernel 2.6.26.4. When the SCTP-AUTH extension is enabled, the function relies on an untrusted user-supplied length value when copying data from kernel memory in handling an SCTP_HMAC_IDENT request through sctp_getsockopt. Because the length is not properly validated against the actual size of the intended data, a local user can trigger an out-of-bounds read and obtain portions of sensitive kernel memory.
