CVE-2008-5044 is a race condition in Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and Windows Vista. A multithreaded application can repeatedly invoke the window-hook removal operation while other desktop activity is occurring, causing improperly synchronized concurrent access to shared hook-related state. The resulting race can cause the operating system to crash or hang.
