A directory traversal vulnerability exists in the get_lang function in global.php in Quicksilver Forums 1.4.2 and earlier, as used in QSF Portal before 1.4.5, when running on Windows. The vulnerability arises because the protection mechanism only checks for the '/' (forward slash) character in the lang parameter, allowing attackers to use a '' (backslash) to traverse directories. This can be exploited to include and execute arbitrary local files, such as by uploading a PHP file as an avatar and then including it via the vulnerable parameter.
