CVE-2009-1699 is an XML External Entity (XXE) vulnerability in WebKit's XSL stylesheet implementation. Apple Safari versions before 4.0, iPhone OS versions 1.0 through 2.2.1, and iPhone OS for iPod touch versions 1.1 through 2.2.1 do not properly restrict XML external-entity handling. A remote attacker can supply a crafted DTD containing an external entity declaration that causes the XSL/XML processing functionality to resolve and disclose locally accessible files.
