CVE-2009-2693 is a directory traversal vulnerability in Apache Tomcat WAR deployment processing. Apache Tomcat 5.5.0 through 5.5.28 and 6.0.0 through 6.0.20 do not adequately reject WAR archive entries containing parent-directory traversal sequences. When a crafted WAR archive is deployed, archive extraction can write outside the intended web-application deployment directory, permitting arbitrary file creation or overwrite subject to the Tomcat process's filesystem permissions.
