CVE-2009-2901 is an improper-authentication vulnerability in Apache Tomcat's autodeployment handling. In affected Tomcat 5.5.0 through 5.5.28 and 6.0.0 through 6.0.20 installations, a failed undeployment can leave application-base artifacts behind. When autoDeploy is enabled, Tomcat may redeploy those residual artifacts without the intended security constraints, allowing authentication requirements to be bypassed through HTTP requests.
