CVE-2010-0211 affects OpenLDAP 2.4.22. The slap_modrdn2mods function fails to check the return value from smr_normalize while processing a Modify DN (modrdn) operation. An RDN containing invalid UTF-8 can cause normalization to fail; subsequent cleanup in slap_mods_free frees an invalid, uninitialized pointer. The weakness chain consists of an unchecked return value (CWE-252) resulting in access to an uninitialized pointer (CWE-824).
