CVE-2010-3718 is an improper pathname restriction vulnerability in Apache Tomcat running under a Java SecurityManager. Affected releases fail to make the ServletContext work-directory attribute read-only. A malicious local web application can modify this attribute before permissions are applied and use directory traversal to obtain read or write access to files outside its intended working directory. Affected versions include Tomcat 7.0.0 through 7.0.3, Tomcat 6.0.x before 6.0.30, and Tomcat 5.5.x before 5.5.30.
