CVE-2010-4367 is a remote command execution vulnerability in awstats.cgi in AWStats before version 7.0. The CGI script accepts a configdir parameter in the URL and does not safely restrict or validate the configuration directory path. As a result, an attacker can cause AWStats to load a crafted configuration file from an attacker-controlled remote location. Reported vectors include configuration files hosted on WebDAV or NFS servers, and on Windows deployments the issue is also described as improper handling of backslashes, enabling loading of a malicious configuration file from a remote SMB share. Because AWStats configuration files can contain directives that result in command execution, loading an attacker-supplied configuration file can lead to arbitrary command execution in the context of the web service.
