CVE-2011-0105 is a buffer-overflow vulnerability in Microsoft Excel 2002 SP3, Microsoft Office 2004 and 2008 for Mac, and the Open XML File Format Converter for Mac. When processing a crafted Excel file, the affected software obtains a length value from uninitialized memory and uses it in a manner that can cause a buffer overflow. The flaw is known as the Excel Data Initialization Vulnerability.

This repository contains a single Metasploit module (ms11_021_xlb_bof.rb) that exploits a stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability (CVE-2011-0105) in Microsoft Office Excel 2007 and 2007 SP2 on Windows XP. The exploit works by generating a specially crafted .xlb file (Excel toolbar file) that, when opened by a victim, triggers a buffer overflow and allows execution of arbitrary code with the privileges of the user. The module allows the attacker to select any Metasploit payload, which is embedded into the malicious file. The exploit is operational and requires the victim to manually open the malicious file. The only fingerprintable endpoints are the generated .xlb file and the template file used to construct the payload. The code is written in Ruby and is structured as a standard Metasploit exploit module.
