CVE-2011-0340 is a set of multiple buffer overflow vulnerabilities in the ISSymbol ActiveX control (ISSymbol.ocx versions 61.6.0.0 and 301.1009.2904.0) used in the ISSymbol virtual machine, as distributed with Advantech Studio 6.1 SP6 61.6.01.05, InduSoft Web Studio prior to 7.0+SP1, and InduSoft Thin Client 7.0. The vulnerabilities are triggered by providing overly long values to the InternationalOrder, InternationalSeparator, or LogFileName properties, or by passing a long bstrFileName argument to the OpenScreen method. These buffer overflows can be exploited remotely via a malicious web page or document that instantiates the vulnerable ActiveX control.

This repository contains a single Metasploit module targeting a heap overflow vulnerability in the ISSymbol.ocx ActiveX control (InduSoft Web Studio <= 61.6.00.00 SP6). The exploit is delivered via a malicious HTML page served by the Metasploit framework, which uses JavaScript heap spraying and invokes the InternationalSeparator() method with an overly long string to trigger the overflow. The module supports multiple targets, specifically Internet Explorer versions 6 through 9 on Windows XP SP3, Vista, and 7. The payload is customizable and allows for arbitrary code execution in the context of the browser. The main fingerprintable endpoint is the ActiveX CLSID (3c9dff6f-5cb0-422e-9978-d6405d10718f) and the ISSymbol.ocx file. The repository is structured as a typical Metasploit exploit module, written in Ruby, and is operational with a customizable payload.
