CVE-2011-0885 is a default credential vulnerability affecting certain Comcast Business Gateway deployments of the SMC SMCD3G-CCR running firmware prior to 1.4.0.49.2. The device exposes a preconfigured administrative account with a static default password, allowing an attacker who can reach the management plane to authenticate without needing to guess or crack credentials. The issue affects administrative access through both the web management interface and the TELNET interface. Because the vulnerable condition is the presence of hard-coded or unchanged default credentials on a privileged account, exploitation is straightforward wherever the management interfaces are reachable.
