CVE-2011-1260 is a use-after-free vulnerability in Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 6 through 9, specifically in the mshtml!CObjectElement handling of invalid <object> elements. When such an element is overlapped by other HTML elements and subsequently freed, it can still be referenced, leading to memory corruption. Exploitation involves manipulating the DOM with crafted HTML and JavaScript to trigger the vulnerability, allowing an attacker to overwrite the freed memory with controlled data. This can be leveraged to execute arbitrary code in the context of the user running Internet Explorer. The vulnerability is related to the mshtml!CElement::Doc function and was originally reported as ZDI-11-194.

This repository contains a single Metasploit module exploiting the MS11-050 (CVE-2011-1260) use-after-free vulnerability in Internet Explorer 7 and 8 on Windows XP, Vista, and 7. The exploit is delivered via a malicious HTML page served by the attacker's HTTP server. When a vulnerable user visits the page, JavaScript and heap spraying techniques are used to trigger the vulnerability and execute arbitrary code. The module supports multiple targets, automatically selecting the appropriate exploit method based on the victim's User-Agent string. For IE8, the presence of Java is required to bypass DEP using ROP chains. The payload is fully customizable, leveraging Metasploit's payload system, and can provide the attacker with a shell or other post-exploitation capabilities. The code is mature and weaponized, as it is part of the Metasploit framework and supports multiple configurations and payloads.
