CVE-2011-2461 is a cross-site scripting flaw in Adobe Flex SDK 3.x and 4.x before 4.6. The issue arises from unsafe handling of runtime-loaded resource modules from different domains. In affected Flex applications, the ResourceManager component exposes a controllable resourceModuleURLs property that can be influenced via FlashVars. A vulnerable parent SWF can be induced to load an attacker-controlled child SWF as a resource module and assign it SecurityDomain.currentDomain, causing the attacker-supplied SWF to execute in the security context of the trusted application origin. Adobe patched the SDK in 2011, but already-deployed SWF applications compiled with vulnerable SDK versions remain exploitable unless the applications themselves are recompiled or patched. Updating the browser or Adobe Flash Player alone does not remediate vulnerable SWF content. Research cited in the provided content shows exploitation can lead to Flash-based XSS in older Flash Player versions and, more broadly, same-origin policy bypass effects such as Same-Origin Request Forgery and Cross-Site Content Hijacking in fully patched browsers and Flash Player installations.

A Flash/SWF-related vulnerability that can allow a malicious SWF loaded via FlashVars to inherit the SecurityDomain of a vulnerable SWF, enabling an indirect same-origin policy bypass and theft of sensitive data from authenticated Google services.
A vulnerability in Adobe Flex SDK (versions 3.x through 4.5.1) where attacker-controlled resourceModuleURLs can cause vulnerable SWF applications compiled with the affected SDK to load malicious modules in the current security domain, enabling Same-Origin Request Forgery and cross-site content hijacking. It remains exploitable unless affected Flex applications are recompiled or patched.
