This repository contains a single Metasploit module (Ruby file) that exploits a stack buffer overflow vulnerability (CVE-2012-0124) in HP Data Protector Express (versions 5.0.00.59287 and 6.0.00.11974) running on Windows XP SP3. The exploit targets the folder creation functionality, where the folder name is improperly handled by the dpwindtb.dll component, leading to a stack overflow. Due to the way the buffer is split and protected by stack cookies, the exploit uses an SEH overwrite and an egghunter to locate the payload in memory. The module allows the attacker to authenticate (default 'Admin' user with empty password is common) and send a specially crafted request to TCP port 3817, resulting in arbitrary code execution as SYSTEM. The payload is fully customizable via the Metasploit framework, making this a weaponized exploit. The repository is structured as a standard Metasploit module and is ready for use within the framework.
