CVE-2012-0549 is a stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability in the Oracle AutoVue Office component, specifically in the AVMRkpX.ocx ActiveX control (CLSID B6FCC215-D303-11D1-BC6C-0000C078797F). The vulnerability is triggered via the SetMarkupMode function, which passes user-controlled data (sMarkup parameter) to an unsafe strcpy-like function (PanStrcpy) in panio.dll, copying data into a fixed-length stack buffer without proper bounds checking. Despite the presence of stack cookies, the exploit can bypass them by controlling the 'this' pointer in a destructor call, enabling arbitrary code execution. The vulnerability is remotely exploitable via Internet Explorer when a user visits a malicious web page.

This repository contains a single Metasploit module targeting a stack-based buffer overflow in the Oracle AutoVue ActiveX control (AutoVue.ocx), specifically in the SetMarkupMode method. The exploit is delivered via a malicious HTML page served by the Metasploit framework's HTTP server. When a victim visits the page using Internet Explorer (versions 6-9) on Windows, the exploit triggers a heap spray and buffer overflow, allowing arbitrary code execution in the context of the browser. The module supports multiple target configurations, including different versions of Internet Explorer and Windows, and leverages Java 6 for DEP/ASLR bypass on newer systems. The payload is customizable and can be any Metasploit-supported Windows payload. The main fingerprintable endpoint is the vulnerable ActiveX control identified by its CLSID. The repository is weaponized, as it is part of the Metasploit framework and allows for easy payload customization and delivery.
