CVE-2012-1260 is a cross-site scripting vulnerability in the Scrutinizer NetFlow & sFlow Analyzer web console, affecting version 8.6.2.16204 and possibly other versions before 9.0.1.19899. The flaw is present in cgi-bin/userprefs.cgi, where the application stores user-supplied input from the newUser parameter without adequate input validation or output encoding. Because the supplied content is stored unmodified in the backend and later rendered by the web interface, an attacker can inject arbitrary HTML or JavaScript that executes in the browser of users who view the affected content. The available technical context characterizes this as persistent XSS.
