CVE-2012-2626 is an authentication bypass vulnerability in the web console of Plixer Scrutinizer, also known as Dell SonicWALL Scrutinizer, affecting versions prior to 9.5.0. The flaw resides in cgi-bin/admin.cgi, where privileged administrative functionality does not properly enforce token-based authentication. Although the application presents a form-based login workflow, the affected administrative endpoint accepts a userprefs action without requiring a valid session token, allowing unauthorized requests to reach privileged functionality. A remote attacker can exploit this weakness to add administrative accounts through the web interface without authenticating.

This repository contains a single Metasploit auxiliary module (modules/auxiliary/admin/http/scrutinizer_add_user.rb) that exploits an authentication bypass vulnerability (CVE-2012-2626) in Plixer Scrutinizer NetFlow and sFlow Analyzer versions 9.0.1 and older. The module sends an unauthenticated HTTP POST request to the /cgi-bin/admin.cgi endpoint, creating a new administrative user account on the target system. The exploit requires the attacker to specify the desired username and password for the new account. The module parses the JSON response to confirm success. The code is written in Ruby and is designed to be used within the Metasploit framework. The main attack vector is network-based, targeting a web interface exposed by the vulnerable product.
