CVE-2012-4959 is a directory traversal vulnerability in NFRAgent.exe in Novell File Reporter 1.0.2. The flaw is exposed through a 130 /FSF/CMD request and can be triggered by supplying path traversal sequences ("..") in a FILE element of an FSFUI record. By abusing insufficient validation of file paths, a remote attacker can cause the agent to write uploaded files outside the intended directory, enabling arbitrary file upload. The associated advisory states that this can be leveraged to upload and execute files with SYSTEM privileges, making the issue effectively a path traversal-based arbitrary file upload that can lead to code execution.

This repository contains a Metasploit module targeting a remote code execution vulnerability (CVE-2012-4959) in Novell File Reporter Agent (NFRAgent.exe) versions 1.0.4.3 and 1.0.3.22 on Windows. The exploit abuses a directory traversal flaw in the /FSF/CMD HTTP endpoint, allowing arbitrary file upload by sending specially crafted XML records with UICMD 130. The module uploads a VBS-encoded payload and a MOF file to the target's system32 and wbem\mof\good directories, respectively, then triggers execution to gain code execution (typically a Meterpreter session). The module also attempts to clean up the payload and MOF files after exploitation. The only file in the repository is a Ruby script structured as a standard Metasploit exploit module, leveraging Metasploit's HttpClient, EXE, and WbemExec mixins. The exploit is weaponized, allowing customizable payloads and automated post-exploitation cleanup.
