CVE-2012-6081 is an unrestricted file upload vulnerability in MoinMoin prior to version 1.9.6, specifically in the twikidraw (action/twikidraw.py) and anywikidraw (action/anywikidraw.py) actions. Authenticated users with write permissions could upload files with executable extensions, which could then be accessed and executed directly, leading to arbitrary code execution. This vulnerability was exploited in the wild, notably in the 2013 Python.org wiki breach, where attackers uploaded a malicious plugin to gain code execution as the 'moin' user.

This repository contains a single Metasploit module (modules/exploits/unix/webapp/moinmoin_twikidraw.rb) targeting a file upload vulnerability in MoinMoin 1.9.5 (CVE-2012-6081). The exploit abuses a directory traversal flaw in the 'twikidraw' action to overwrite the moin.wsgi file, which is then used to execute arbitrary Python code (and thus system commands) on the server. The module supports both authenticated and anonymous attacks, provided the attacker has write access to a page (default: /WikiSandBox). The exploit is operational and provides remote command execution as the web server user. The module attempts to restore the overwritten moin.wsgi file after exploitation, but restoration is not guaranteed. The main attack vector is via HTTP requests to the vulnerable MoinMoin instance, and the key fingerprintable endpoints are the base wiki path, the writable page, and the moin.wsgi file.
