CVE-2013-0007 is a remote code execution vulnerability in Microsoft XML Core Services (MSXML) 4.0, 5.0, and 6.0, described by Microsoft as the "MSXML XSLT Vulnerability." The flaw is triggered when MSXML parses specially crafted XML/XSLT content incorrectly, leading to memory corruption and corruption of system state. In the documented attack scenario, a victim is induced to open a malicious or compromised web page in Internet Explorer that invokes MSXML, though other applications or services using the MSXML library for XML parsing may also expose the vulnerable code path. Successful exploitation results in attacker-controlled code execution in the security context of the current user. Microsoft states the security update corrects the issue by modifying how MSXML parses XML content.
