A directory traversal vulnerability exists in substitute.bcl within the WebView CimWeb subsystem of GE Intelligent Platforms Proficy HMI/SCADA - CIMPLICITY versions 4.01 through 8.0, and Proficy Process Systems with CIMPLICITY. Remote attackers can exploit this flaw by sending crafted packets to the affected service, allowing them to read arbitrary files on the server. The vulnerable web components are not enabled by default.

This repository contains a single Metasploit auxiliary module targeting a directory traversal vulnerability (CVE-2013-0653) in GE Proficy Cimplicity WebView (gefebt.exe). The exploit allows an attacker to retrieve arbitrary files from the target system with SYSTEM privileges by sending a specially crafted HTTP GET request to the gefebt.exe component, abusing the 'substitute.bcl' functionality. The module checks if the target is running the vulnerable application, then attempts to download a specified file (default: /windows\win.ini) using directory traversal sequences. The exploit is operational and provides file download capabilities, but does not provide a shell or code execution. The only file in the repository is a Ruby script designed for use within the Metasploit framework.
