CVE-2013-10052 affects ZPanel's helper binary, zsudo, which is intended to provide restricted privilege escalation for administrative operations. When zsudo is misconfigured in /etc/sudoers, low-privileged local users can invoke it to execute arbitrary commands with root privileges rather than only the intended administrative actions. In practice, an attacker with shell access can place a payload in a writable directory and execute it through zsudo, resulting in full local privilege escalation to root. The issue is especially relevant in post-compromise scenarios where an attacker has already obtained limited access through the web server or another low-privileged account and can then leverage zsudo to gain complete control of the host.

This repository contains a single Metasploit module (modules/exploits/linux/local/zpanel_zsudo.rb) that exploits a local privilege escalation vulnerability in the zsudo binary distributed with ZPanel (CVE-2013-10052). The exploit requires an existing session on a Linux system where the user can execute zsudo (as configured in sudoers). The module writes a payload (either a shell command or an ELF binary) to a writable directory (default: /tmp), makes it executable, and then runs it via zsudo to escalate privileges. The exploit is operational and provides the attacker with root access if successful. The main fingerprintable endpoints are the zsudo binary path and the writable directory used for payload deployment. The code is written in Ruby and is designed to be used within the Metasploit framework.
