CVE-2013-2121 is a remote code execution vulnerability in Foreman prior to 1.2.0-RC2. The vulnerability exists in the create method of the Bookmarks controller (app/controllers/bookmarks_controller.rb), where unsanitized user input from the controller attribute is passed to an eval statement. This allows any authenticated user with bookmark creation permissions to inject and execute arbitrary code or system commands on the server by crafting a malicious POST request. The input validation was insufficient, relying on a weak regular expression that could be bypassed.

This repository contains a single Metasploit module targeting a code injection vulnerability (CVE-2013-2121) in the 'create' action of the 'bookmarks' controller in Foreman and Red Hat OpenStack/Satellite (Foreman 1.2.0-RC1 and earlier). The exploit works by authenticating to the web interface (using provided credentials), retrieving a session and CSRF token, and then sending a specially crafted POST request to the /bookmarks endpoint. This request injects arbitrary Ruby code via the 'bookmark[controller]' parameter, which is then executed on the server. The module leverages Metasploit's payload system, allowing for customizable payloads (such as reverse shells or command execution). The attack vector is network-based, requiring access to the web interface. The main endpoints involved are /users/login (for authentication) and /bookmarks (for exploitation). The code is written in Ruby and is structured as a standard Metasploit exploit module.
