CVE-2013-2579 affects TP-Link IP Cameras including TL-SC3130, TL-SC3130G, TL-SC3171, and TL-SC3171G, and possibly other models running firmware prior to beta firmware LM.1.6.18P12_sign6. The devices contain a hardcoded account named "qmik" configured with an empty password. An attacker can use this built-in credential over a TELNET session to authenticate and obtain administrative access to the camera. The issue is a hardcoded credential vulnerability, specifically a built-in administrative account protected by no password, resulting in trivial remote compromise where TELNET is reachable.
