CVE-2013-5036 is a remote code execution vulnerability in Square Squash. The vulnerability exists in the handling of YAML documents passed to the 'namespace' parameter of the deobfuscation function and the 'sourcemap' parameter of the sourcemap function in app/controllers/api/v1_controller.rb. Unsanitized YAML input is deserialized, allowing attackers to execute arbitrary code on the server.

This repository contains a single Metasploit module (modules/exploits/unix/webapp/squash_yaml_exec.rb) that exploits a remote code execution vulnerability (CVE-2013-5036) in the Squash application's YAML request processor. The exploit targets the /api/1.0/deobfuscation HTTP endpoint, sending a specially crafted JSON POST request containing a compressed, base64-encoded YAML payload. This payload abuses Ruby object deserialization to execute arbitrary Ruby code on the server. The module is operational and allows the attacker to run arbitrary commands as the user running the vulnerable Ruby on Rails application. The code is structured as a standard Metasploit exploit module, with options for specifying the target URI and methods for checking vulnerability and delivering the payload. No hardcoded IPs or domains are present; the endpoint is relative and configurable.
