CVE-2013-6414 is an improper input validation issue in Action View, specifically in actionpack/lib/action_view/lookup_context.rb, affecting Ruby on Rails 3.x before 3.2.16 and 4.x before 4.0.2. The vulnerable code improperly handles request headers containing invalid MIME types. Supplying crafted invalid MIME type values causes excessive caching behavior, which in turn drives unbounded or excessive memory consumption. A remote attacker can exploit this condition by sending malicious requests with malformed MIME type headers to a Rails application using affected versions.

This repository contains a single Metasploit auxiliary module: modules/auxiliary/dos/http/rails_action_view.rb. The module targets a denial of service (DoS) vulnerability in Ruby on Rails Action View (CVE-2013-6414). By sending a large number of HTTP GET requests with oversized Accept headers to a specified Rails controller action, the exploit causes the application to store invalid MIME types, eventually exhausting system memory and potentially crashing the server. The exploit is configurable, allowing the user to specify the target URI, the number of requests, and the size of the payload. The module is written in Ruby and is intended to be run within the Metasploit framework. No hardcoded IP addresses or domains are present; the target is specified at runtime. The exploit is operational and can be used to stress-test or attack vulnerable Rails installations.
