This repository contains a local privilege escalation exploit for CVE-2014-0816, targeting the Norman Security Suite's ngs.sys/ngs64.sys driver (version 5.0.740.0) on Windows systems. The exploit is implemented in C++ (exploit_ngs.cpp) with a kernel-mode shellcode in assembly (shellcode.asm). The exploit works by creating a file containing the address of the shellcode, opening a handle to the vulnerable driver (\\.\ngs), and exploiting an IOCTL handler vulnerability to overwrite HalDispatchTable[1] in kernel memory. This allows the attacker to execute arbitrary code in kernel mode, specifically shellcode that replaces the current process's token with the SYSTEM token, thereby granting SYSTEM privileges. Upon success, the exploit launches a new command shell (cmd.exe) as SYSTEM. The exploit is operational and has been tested on Norman Security Suite 10.1 with Windows XP SP3, Windows 7 SP1, and Windows 10 (with SMEP disabled). The main entry point is exploit_ngs.cpp, and the exploit requires local access to the target machine.
